Coronavirus Containment and Control Assistance

With the largest regional teams in the UK, Rentokil Specialist Hygiene deliver a fast response and a professional and legally compliant service. Equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory protective equipment (RPE) and specialist disinfection equipment, our expert technicians provide a range of disinfection services to assist with Coronavirus containment and control.

Steri-7, a high-level surface disinfectant, is used when carrying out these services. Steri-7 kills up to 99.9999% of a broad range of pathogens within seconds of contact and has been tested against feline Coronavirus; a surrogate for Coronavirus. Our service utilises specially formulated micro emulsion technology that applies an active barrier which can persist and kill for hours afterward. Our supplier’s laboratory testing showed the barrier killing microbes (including pathogens) 72 hours after application. So long as the barrier is not wiped away, our treatment provides residual protection and biosecurity reassurance between cleans.*

Specialist Disinfection to Assist With Coronavirus Containment and Control

Provided in the event of a confirmed or suspected case of Coronavirus on your premises, within 72 hours of the case being reported.

Rentokil Specialist Hygiene will survey your site wearing the appropriate PPE and RPE, and we will be guided by the site-specific risk assessment, method statement and safe operating procedures generated at the time of survey. Then, our experienced technicians will meticulously disinfect all rooms and areas that pose a risk of cross contamination.

It is extremely important that any waste be disposed of in a safe and legally compliant manner, to help ensure that there is no further cross contamination. Rentokil Specialist Hygiene follows the COVID-19: infection prevention and control guidance as set out by Public Health England. All waste will be handled as clinical waste and will be correctly segregated, transported and disposed of in line with clinical waste regulations.

Rentokil Specialist Hygiene segregates waste on site, and collects it in specialist UN approved containers that are designed for the transportation of infectious waste. Our ADR licenced waste management technicians will then transport this for disposal by incineration. Full traceability following the Carrier Regulations will be provided, including a hazardous waste consignment note.

Our technicians' safety and the safety of the general public is of paramount importance to us, and is why our carefully risk assessed infection control measures go beyond the minimum World Health Organization (WHO) guidance. For example, our technicians use full face respirators rather than half face respirators for full protection.

Specialist Disinfection When a Confirmed or Suspected Coronavirus Case is Older Than 72 Hours

We provide this service when there is  a confirmed or suspected case of Coronavirus on your premises and your building has been closed for 72 hours or more.

This service is reflective of government guidance, stating that under most circumstances, the amount of infectious virus on any contaminated surface is likely to have significantly decreased after 72 hours.

Our expert technicians apply full PPE and RPE, then treat the area using the appropriate disinfection method. Touchpoint cleaning is also carried out, which involves disinfecting key, high risk touchpoints such as door handles, light switches and kitchen surfaces, to minimise the risk of microbial transfer. All waste is then removed from the site following relevant guidance and legislation.

Contingency Survey

For customers where speed of service is essential, we offer a contingency survey to allow us to gather key information in advance, so that we can react quickly in the event of Coronavirus being reported on your site. The survey is completed and a report is kept on file, along with a site-specific risk assessment, a method statement and pre-authorised works information. This can only be completed when there are no suspected or confirmed cases of Coronavirus on site at the time of the survey.
