To be considered for a position on our graduate programme, you must have a minimum of 2.2 BSc/BA, in any subject.
We are ideally looking for people who are interested in a career within a fast moving business and can work to targets. We offer a supportive training structure which will give you the tools you need to succeed through every stage of the programme and see you become a successful Manager of the future.
We are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates who hold a full UK Driving Licence and live within commutable distance or are willing to relocate to the area.
You will initially join our graduate programme as a Rookie Sales Consultant and attend a 4 week training course supported by our internal Sales Academy. You will receive both Technical and Sales training, along with being occasionally assessed both on the job by the local manager and also through the Sales Academy assessments.
You will have the opportunity to be graded annually through our Pay and Grading process and can increase your job grade and your earnings based on your individual performance. All Graduates meet on a regular basis to network and participate in project work and after 18 months you will also have the opportunity participate in our Aspiring Managers programme which provides management training to prepare our graduates for their first front line management role.
Typical career paths include Service Manager, Sales Manager, Key Accounts and Branch Manager. There are also opportunities to transfer to a management position within our other businesses.
First 2-4 weeks - You'll spend the first few weeks with our Specialist Hygiene Technicians to give you a good understanding of the business and service we provide, products we use and who our customers are.
1 month – 18 months - After training you will then work as a Graduate Sales Consultant. The role of Being a Sales Consultant at Rentokil Specialist Hygiene involves the roles below:
18 months - 36 months+ - You'll have the opportunity to attend our Aspiring Managers programme and whilst doing this you'll continue in your Sales Consultant role. After attending the Aspiring Managers programme, depending on vacancies and your own personal preference you could then move into a team leader/ management position within the organisation.
During the first interview we’ll ask you about your skills and experience, and assess how well they match the job you’re applying for. We may also ask you some role playing questions to see how you would handle certain situations you’d experience on the job.
If the first interview goes well, you will be invited to spend a few hours in the field with a colleague to experience the role first hand so that you get a good feel for the job role itself.
After your first hands on experience in the field you will then come in for a second interview with one of the senior managers. During this interview we’ll be keen to learn more about you, how you like to work, and what your motivations and aspirations are.

Rentokil Initial is a company I have always been aware of - I knew they were a large organisation and I knew there would be the potential to go far within the business. This is what originally appealed most about Rentokil Specialist Hygiene to me. After looking further into the Graduate Management Training Program I was interested to know more about the company and the challenges that working for Rentokil Specialist Hygiene could present.
My first role within the business was as a Field Sales Consultant. I covered a territory in Yorkshire and was responsible for providing regular sales for the North West & Yorkshire branch. I enjoyed the competitive nature of being part of a sales team. However, as an account manager I am now responsible for accounts nationwide. My role has shifted so now I am providing opportunities for my field sales colleagues and I really enjoy the relationship this allows me to have with those working in the field.
I have been working over 3 years now at Rentokil Specialist Hygiene, everyday presents a different challenge to me. As an Account Manager I am constantly managing my own responsibilities autonomously. I enjoy the freedom to make my own decisions and I enjoy being able to take full ownership over my role. This level of responsibility allows me to take full control over my own career development.

Previously I had worked in many different forms of sales, however with Rentokil I can see this as a full time career.
The sales academy is brilliant and one of a kind - it’s intensive and covers every service we do in great detail in and out of the classroom. When you are in the field you are never alone, once a week you are with your Manager and for the rest of the week help is only a call away.
What I enjoy most about my role is being able to help people who are in desperate need of your services - it can add a huge sense of achievement to your day. My role is extremely diverse, one minute I can be 'knee' deep in sewage working out how we go about getting the customer's premises back to what it once was, and the next in a building assessing the full extent of damage caused by a fire and what we can do to help.
Rentokil Initial is a fantastic company to work for as it is like one big family. As a graduate we are respected, given a large amount of responsibility with new and existing products and challenges to change real business processes.

I found the role advertised on a local job board as I was looking for a sales role with an element of account management.
What appealed to me was that each day was going to be different and not office based. I was encouraged that the business invested so much resources into training in the form of the Sales Academy. My initial training through the sales academy was for six weeks and was a mixture of product knowledge spending time with out with colleagues was helpful in easing my way into my new industry.
I enjoy my role as I get to meet my customers and create a sincere relationship with them. Rentokil Initial had allowed me to go to different places I hadn’t before. The list ranges from schools, commercial restaurants, and factories. One of the highlights so far was the sales conference . Listening to the ambition and direction that the company is heading to reassured me that I was in safe hands. This is what I love most about the company, it’s the continuous growth and limitless opportunity to succeed.

I was made aware of the job opportunity when it was posted on social media. As with most people outside the company, I associated Rentokil with Pest Control but the vast size of the company, the future opportunites and the variety of services they provided intrigued me further. The more I researched Rentokil-Intial the more I realised I wanted to be a part of it.
Since joining the team, I've tried to listen and take on board as much advice as possible from every department and then use what works best for me. Whether this be a technician describing the job from their point of view, service offering guidance with reports and bookings to fellow consultants and management being there every step of the way.
The technical information to hand is second to none and you're well supported throughout your training. Your fellow team around you are just that, a team. They've all been in your shoes before and know the intial struggles that can occur when starting out. It's great to have that kind of experience to tap into.
The application process all happened fairly quickly. First was the telephone interview which then led to the first and second stage interviews. I then got the opportunity to go out with a consultant for the day and test the water. Within a few weeks of applying, I was in branch and ready to start the graduate training programme.
You'll hear this a lot from people within Rentokil-Intial but your hard work will get rewarded and there's plenty of scope for progression within the company. That's a great motivation to peform and do well.
I would give this advice, be a sponge and try and absorb as much as you can from as many different people as you can. This has helped me massively in an industry which is totally new to me.
