No Smoke without Fire - Counting the Cost of a Business Blaze

According to the latest available figures, fires in the UK contribute to over £8 billion worth of damage to homes and businesses annually.

These figures include the consequential costs of fire, including damaged property, lost business and economic difficulties.

Not only that, statistics show 60 per cent of private companies affected by fire never recover, leading them to go out of business.

But why?

While the physical effects on a business’s interior and exterior are undoubtedly distressing, health problems, corrosion and soot odours are also associated with a blaze, which can cause their own problems for cash strapped firms.

Soot is a major problem, as it spreads from where the initial blaze began due to smoke travelling from hot and cold areas, and high-pressure areas to low pressure areas, resulting in a cleanup that stretches way beyond where the fire started.
